Resolution 2013 Nails

 

 

Its New Years Eve!! I hope you all have fun plans for tonight. I'll be going to Resolution which is pretty much a giant New Years Eve party down in Seattle with a killer EDM lineup and of course lots of dancing. I knew that I wanted to do a silver and white outfit with touches of teal, so i decided to redo my favorite manicure from the summer.

I know I've been gone for nearly half a year, but thats about to change! I plan on reviving the blog for the New Year. Until then I'm working on building a white box so that I can take better photographs of my nails and other products. In a nutshell I stopped posting because I was sick of the terrible quality of photos that I was taking, largely due to lighting.

I thought I'd just drop buy and post a picture of my Christmas manicure. With that in mind excuse the quality of these photos. I tried my best with what I had =]

Ombre Nails

I decided to try an ombre manicure and had just about the hardest time taking a picture of it.

Luxe Nails

I've been feeling gold lately, which is strange cause normally I hate gold. Maybe I'm branching out, who knows. I just feel like gold is perfect for summer and it goes great with coral which I'm really digging on right now as well. 

Paradiso Nails

I uploaded these photos onto my computer after Paradiso (end of June) but I couldn't find where I saved them until now. I wanted my nails to coordinate with something I was wearing, and I picked silver to match my shorts cause that was the color I was wearing the least of.

4th of July nails

Here's a quick pic of my nails from the 4th of July. I thought they were ok... I ran out of time doing them so they were sloppier than I would have liked. But regardless they looked patriotic and alot of people really liked them.

June Favorites

June has been a weird month. As a result of pretty much living out of a makeup bag, my favorites are really limited (I'll explain why in an update).  There really wasn't anything this month that I was obsessed with this month, I didn't really do anything creative with my nails or makeup.

I re-did my nails last night and used a little silver striper that I found at Fred Meyer for an extra little something for my French Manicure. Unfortunately my photos were taken a few days after I first did the manicure so its not super fresh but owell.

Explanation of my absence/Recap

Hey guys -

I know I briefly touched on the fact that I've been gone due to school and being busy. I thought I'd do a full post showing you guys what I've been up to and whatnot. Besides school I've been trying to have as much fun as possible and take some pictures while I was at it. 

Another reason for my lack of posts is that I've been pretty boring with my nails and makeup lately. This picture pretty much shows how I've been looking the last couple weeks. Most weekdays I've been sporting a ponytail, no face makeup (yay for my skin finally getting better), a bit of eyeliner and maybe some eyeshadow, and I've even had naked nails the last few days. I've also been wearing the same shirt and sweatshirt combo more than I should admit haha.

Hey guys - I've been pretty MIA with this blog lately. I've been pretty busy with school and just trying to go out and have fun whenever I have a second. I have a backlog of photos and posts I need to put up but with finals coming up I think a lot of them are going to have to wait. Once summer comes though hopefully I'll have a lot more time to post on here. For the time being I have a quick nail post. Sorry its with crappy cell phone pics but I figure its better than nothing.

Recap

Hey guys! I know my posting on this blog has been pretty sporadic, or more like non existent lately. After midterms wrapped up I didn't want to do anything, and now we're moving into the last couple weeks of the quarter. The weather has finally started to get nice so I've been inspired by that to get off my butt, and of course shop.

Weekend Makeup Bag

Lately I've been going home to my parents house almost every weekend, so naturally that means every weekend I've gotta pack up some stuff to bring home with me, since I don't keep much at my parents house. Generally I end up bringing home a backpack and a small duffel bag, which I lug around with me to school, and then on the bus home. That being said, I generally try to streamline what I'm bringing home. This post is going to be what I generally bring home when I'm trying to keep the makeup minimal. Excuse the picture quality, the lighting in my parent's bathroom is terrible.

District 4 Nails

I set out to do this nail look trying to use two nail polishes that I've owned for a year but never touched, and was pleasantly surprised by the way it turned out. I was in the middle of Catching Fire while I had this manicure and couldn't help but thinking about District 4, and the ocean every time I looked at my nails.

The last couple weeks I've just been chugging along, enjoying the weather. I've picked up a couple cool things along the way, went back to my parents house for Easter weekend, and I've still neglected to clean my room.

Friday night I went to a "Mathletes and Athletes" party (which frankly I am not even close to either), and my friends and I decided to go as Athletes. I ended up just wearing my super short Lulu Lemon yoga shorts, and my friends Lulu Lemon Jacket. I didn't want to do my makeup too crazy cause it would clash with the whole athlete thing (I'm aware this isn't what most people would wear to go be athletic but it was a party I wasn't going to look scrubby)

I always forget to take pictures of my nails, so while I was photographing some other stuff for the blog I snapped a couple of photos real quick. This is LA Girl Metal nail polish in the color Graphite. I picked this up for 99 cents at a little cheapy typical mall store a week or so ago.

Weekly Recap

So I figured I would try to do weekly recaps on this blog. I may not end up doing them every single week it will just depend on how busy I am. The content will vary but generally cover about the same things. That being said here it goes!

This past week was the first week of the quarter, and I've been pretty sick so I haven't had much spare time to blog. I spent most of the week sleeping and blowing my nose. I hardly wore any makeup if any, didn't bother with perfume or lotion most days because I was lazy/in a rush/couldn't smell it, and kept my nails pretty basic. I pretty much just sported a ponytail, eyeliner, and a pullover sweatshirt if I had to go out. To continue my recovery I'm not doing much as far as going out for the weekend. Tomorrow I'm making myself wake up at a decent hour (I woke up at 1 today) and go to the library to study. All week I've pretty much been dreaming about summer, what I'll wear, what I'll smell like, what I'll do, etc etc. Guess I'm done with the rain.

Some months I go through alot of makeup/beauty related products and then sometimes it'll be months before a finish even one product. Within this last month or so I feel like I've finished off everything and the amount of empties I have is pretty unusual.

Hey guys. Today is the last day of my Spring Break and lemme tell you I thought I would be blogging alot more over my break. The combination of relaxing, being sick, allergies starting, extra shifts coming up, and  most importantly - hanging out and having fun, took up more time than I thought it would. I was pleasantly surprised by how I was able to stay busy but still relaxed during this break. I did some shopping and overall had a really good break. I definitely have some posts lined up for nails, hauls, empties, and a few other things.

On Monday I painted my nails this bright pink for when I went to see Feed Me, and I haven't been able to stop staring at my nails since. This nail polish has held up really well, and today (Friday) is the first day that I've noticed any major chips.

So its tradition that my friend Marissa and I celebrate the end of each quarter by going out and doing something fun, and Feed Me just so happened to be playing at the Showbox the night of my last final. The venue probably wasn't the best for it (it was super packed and not nearly enough room to dance) but we had a blast anyways.

So heres my crazy face. I feel like Marissa's eyeshadow actually turned out better than mine, which was surprising and a little bit of a bummer haha (I'm selfish I know). I really need a better pink eyeshadow that won't just blend off when I try to add a crease color. Next time I might try doing my crease color first and then adding the lid color, or maybe if I'm lucky I'll pick up Makeup Forever's neon pink eyeshadow (I can dream right)

I was a little nervous doing Marissa's eye makeup. While I'm comfortable doing my own makeup - Marissa has totally different coloring than I do and her eyes are different too (hello I'm half asian). Part of me was worried that she would end up looking like a clown/hating it, but in the end it was definitely worth the risk because we both really liked how it turned out. I really enjoyed seeing her wear bright eyeshadow and huge lashes because she usually sticks to subtle neutral colors and I bought those lashes for myself but they looked awful on me haha.

FOTD: Studying for finals.

This week was the last week of the quarter - and while most people have their finals spread out throughout next week, I have two Saturday, and one on Monday. Needless to say I feel like I've been drowning in studying. After work this morning, I came home and took a shower so that I could actually get ready for the rest of the day. I wanted to do something different than my everyday makeup, but I didn't want to spend a lot of time on my makeup today either. While looking through my stash I realized that I've had the Urban Decay Deluxe Palette for almost 2 years and I've never used the shade Honey, so I decided to base a look around that. I put the look together pretty quickly, I probably should have skipped the lashes but owell!

So I'm just going to outright say the pictures in this post are pretty terrible and I know it. I wanted to get some pictures of my nails before they started to chip cause the tips are already starting to wear, but unfortunately its dark out and the lighting in my apartment is complete garbage. I half considered not posting these at all cause I'm embarrassed of how bad the pictures look. Which is sad considering I really like the nails in real life. But anyways...

I've been itching to do something more to my nails than just painting them a solid color, but due to me ripping half my nails during bowling with some friends, I've been trying to wear colors that aren't going to make it really noticeable that my nails are all different lengths. I think that the busyness and consistency of this manicure work together to make it less noticeable that my nails are different lengths.

Hey Everyone 

My name is Kerri and I'm a 20 year old college student whose time consists of school, work, and going to shows. On the side I like to hoard nail polish, smell nice, and play with make up just like the next girl. I always said that I would start a blog when I finally got my own camera so here we go. Bare with me while I get the hang of blogger and figure out how to take the best photos for my blog. I've always enjoyed the amount of inspiration and information I can get from other people's blogs, and I hope I can do the same for you. I should be posting some actual content in the next few days.
